the oriental bakery in the roads, miami

soooo, I decided to start posting on this dang thing again, not that anyone will notice since I’ve been out of the habit so long. But Henry and I have discovered this teee-rific little place to eat a couple miles down the road from our house, and decided it might make a good blog post. I think of maggie every time I go in there, as it is full of odd things she would bring home and present with extreme pomp and circumstance from her crazy travels. It is also full of delicious food and grocery items (like tahini and fresh baklava and twelve different kinds of olives) that can not be found elsewhere in Miami.

One of the best things about this place is that some of our good friends just rented a house literally across the street… so I think my consumption of lamb shish kabobs and cucumber yogurt salad and baklava is going to increase exponentially in the next few months. I can’t wait.

Here are a couple more pictures:

we asked the guy behind the counter if walnut or pistachio baklava was better, and he looked at us like we\'d be crazy to eat the walnut stuff.

We asked the guy behind the counter if walnut or pistachio baklava was better, and he looked at us like we’d be crazy to eat the walnut stuff. The pistachio is divine. For some reason, I’ve always thought that Edmund was won over to the White Witch by baklava, and now I think it must have been pistachio baklava.
